Learning to Trust What You Feel
There have been moments in my life I couldnât explainâbut I couldnât ignore them, either.
I once pulled my son off the school bus because he kept complaining about a strange smell. Nothing urgent, just a strong feeling that something was off. A few days later, I was watching the news and saw the same bus engulfed in flames. The driver was being called a hero for getting the students out safely. Iâll never forget the chill I felt as I watched it live on TV. Another time, in the middle of a snowstorm, while my son was in the hospital, three deer stood silently outside our windowâuntil a fourth arrived. They moved on together. It felt like a message. A quiet reassurance that we werenât alone. And then there are those smaller moments, too. A nudge to message a friend I hadnât spoken to in yearsâonly to find she was in tears, trying to figure out who to talk to. Or the soft voice of my grandmother, long gone, arriving in my mind during a panic spiral: âItâs going to be okay, sweetheart.â And the comfort I felt hearing that, suddenly, miraculously, knowing that everything would indeed be okay.
These moments make us pause.
We wonder: Am I making this up? Was that intuition? Spirit? Coincidence? This blog is here to explore that spaceâthe one between doubt and knowing. Itâs about the subtle signals we all receive and how, over time, we can begin to trust whatâs already within us.
How Do I Know if I'm Psychic or Intuitive?
Psychic and intuitive knowing doesnât always arrive in big, dramatic moments. More often, these feelings show up quietlyâthrough subtle sensations, gut feelings, or those little nudges weâre quick to dismiss. You might feel chills on the back of your neck, a flutter in your chest, or a deep feeling in your body that something just is. These everyday moments are how intuition speaksâand theyâre often the first signs of psychic awareness.
Here are some common ways your intuitive or psychic senses might be showing up:
You just know things without knowing why. You might sense something is about to happen, feel when someone is thinking of you, or âguessâ news before it arrives.
Youâre highly sensitive to energy. You feel the emotional temperature of a room as soon as you walk in, and other peopleâs moods affect you deeply.
Your dreams are vivid, symbolic, or eerily accurate. You may dream of someone before they reach out or have dreams that later mirror real-life events.
You experience physical sensations with no clear cause. Chills, tightness in your chest, a tingle in your scalpâyour body might be tuning into energy or Spirit.
You often sense signs, synchronicities, or patterns. Repeating numbers, animals appearing at meaningful moments, songs that feel like messagesâthese may be intuitive confirmations.
You feel drawn to spiritual practices or tools. Whether itâs tarot, mediumship, energy healing, or meditation, your interest is often a sign that your psychic abilities are ready to unfold.
You donât need to call yourself a psychic or medium to begin noticing these moments. Intuition is innateâand when you learn to recognize and trust it, it becomes a powerful guide.
Is it Normal to Doubt My Intuition?
Even when weâve had a powerful intuitive hit or a moment of clear knowing, doubt often rushes in right after. Itâs completely normal to second-guess yourselfâespecially in a world that values logic over inner knowing. Weâve been conditioned to trust what we can see and measure, which makes it easy to dismiss intuition as âjust a feelingâ or âprobably nothing.â
You might wonder, Am I making this up? Was that real? What if Iâm wrong?
These are common thoughtsâespecially at the beginning of your intuitive or psychic development. Doubt isnât a sign youâre failing; itâs often a sign youâre growing. When something sacred begins to open, itâs natural to question it. The key is to keep going. Every intuitive person Iâve ever worked withâincluding professional mediums and healersâhas had moments of deep uncertainty. But over time, with practice and validation, doubt softens and trust grows stronger.
What Validation Actually Looks Like
One of the most important parts of developing your psychic or intuitive abilities is learning how to recognize when youâve gotten it right. But hereâs the thingâvalidation doesnât always come as a dramatic, movie-worthy âyes!â Sometimes itâs subtle. Sometimes it arrives hours, days, or even weeks later. And sometimes it comes not from someone else, but from withinâa deep inner knowing that something you sensed was true.
Validation might look like:
- Someone confirming your intuitive hit. You say what you felt or saw, and they respond with, âThatâs exactly what I was just thinking,â or âNo one couldâve known that.â
- A physical or emotional shift. You speak something aloud, and the person youâre with tears up, exhales deeply, or says, âThat just gave me chills.â That resonance is confirmation.
- An external sign that matches what you sensed. Maybe you dreamed of a bird and then saw that exact bird the next day in an unexpected place. Or you wrote a name down and later saw it on a street sign. These synchronicities are gentle echoes of your intuitive accuracy.
- The feeling of deep truth in your body. Sometimes the validation isnât verbal at allâitâs in your bones. A sense of calm, clarity, or that full-body yes that arises when you trust yourself.
In the beginning, it can feel like you need someone else to validate everything you senseâbut over time, you begin to recognize how it feels to be in alignment. You learn to trust that soft, steady place inside you where truth lives.
How Can I Strengthen My Psychic Abilities and Trust My Intuition?
Trusting your intuition is like building a relationshipâwith yourself, with Spirit, and with the unseen. It takes time. At first, intuitive impressions may feel vague or fleeting, like whispers youâre not sure you heard. But the more energy and attention you give themâthe more you listen instead of second-guessingâthe stronger and clearer that connection becomes. Just like with any relationship, trust grows when you show up consistently and stay open to learning.
And itâs not all in your headâliterally. Intuition is a somatic experience. It lives in the body. For some people, it shows up as chills or pressure in the chest. For others, itâs a flutter in the stomach, a sense of expansion in the heart, or even a tingling on the scalp. You donât need to experience it the way someone else does. You just need to begin noticing how it shows up for you.
A few gentle ways to strengthen this relationship with your intuition:
- Pause when you feel something. Instead of brushing past it, take a breath and ask: Where do I feel this in my body?
- Keep a record. Write down your nudges, dreams, or impressionsâand then note when and how theyâre validated later. This builds both memory and trust.
- Stay curious. Intuition isnât about being perfect. Itâs about being open, noticing patterns, and letting your inner senses grow at their own pace.
- Honor small knowings. You donât need to wait for big revelations. That gentle sense of âturn here,â âtext them,â or âthis isnât the right timeâ is sacred too.
As you begin to notice how your psychic senses speak through your body and awareness, youâll strengthen not just your intuitive abilitiesâbut your relationship with your own truth.

How to Develop Psychic Abilities: Daily Practices That Work
Psychic development doesnât require a special gift or a dramatic awakening. Like any relationship, your intuition grows stronger with time, attention, and consistency. These simple practices help you develop your psychic abilities day by dayâand strengthen your intuitive connection in a grounded, sustainable way.
Here are a few daily psychic practices to support your growth:
- Start with quiet time. Whether itâs meditation, breathwork, or simply sitting in silence, create a little space each day to listen inward. This stillness is where intuitive impressions begin to rise.
- Keep an intuitive journal. Record your gut feelings, synchronicities, dreams, or random âknowings.â Even if they seem small at the time, writing them down helps you track patterns and build trust.
- Try intuitive development exercises. These can be simple: holding an object and sensing its energy (psychometry), pulling a daily tarot or oracle card, or intuitively describing a photo before turning it over. The goal isnât to be ârightââitâs to practice receiving. Read Psychic Exercises to Improve Your Intuition (Solo & Group)
- Ground and protect your energy. Before doing any intuitive or mediumship development, take a moment to center yourself. Visualization, breath, or grounding into the earth can help you stay clear and steady.
- Sit in the power. This classic mediumship development technique helps you blend with your own soul and Spirit. It builds sensitivity, awareness, and energetic strength. Even 10 minutes a day can make a difference.
The more regularly you engage in intuitive development, the more natural it feels. You donât have to do everything at onceâjust choose what resonates and allow it to evolve. Your psychic senses are always with you. These practices simply create the space for them to rise.
Reflection Prompts for Psychic Development
As you begin (or continue) your intuitive journey, ask yourself:
- When was the last time I trusted my intuitionâand what happened?
- What does âknowingâ feel like in my body?
- What small signs or synchronicities have I noticed lately?
- Where do I still tend to second-guess myself?
- Which daily practice feels most accessible to me right now?
You donât need perfect answersâjust curiosity and a willingness to pay attention. Your intuition grows stronger each time you honor it.
When You Still Feel Blocked
Sometimes, no matter how much you tune in, nothing feels clear. You check in with your body and⊠nothing. No strong yes. No strong no. Just a kind of pause.
Thatâs not failure. Itâs part of being human.
Often, when clarity doesnât come, itâs because you simply need more information. Something hasnât revealed itself yet. A conversation, a sign, a piece of timing. Itâs okay to wait.
And sometimes, clarity doesnât arrive before the next step. You move anywayâwith curiosity instead of certainty. With trust that even if you misstep, youâll learn something that brings you closer to yourself.
Thereâs no one ârightâ way to navigate a block. What matters most is that you stay in relationship with yourself. Over time, youâll build the self-trust that helps you recognize when to wait, when to move, and how to meet the silence in between.
Common Questions About Psychic Abilities
Youâre not alone in wondering these things. Whether youâre just starting to explore your intuition or have been tuning in for years, questions are part of the journey.
Can anyone be psychic?
Yes. Psychic ability is a natural part of being human. Some people have stronger innate sensitivityâjust like some are naturally musical or athleticâbut everyone has the capacity to develop their intuitive awareness with time, attention, and trust.
What if Iâm wrong about my intuition?
Itâs okay. Part of developing your intuition is learning how it speaks to youâand that includes moments of doubt. Sometimes we confuse intuition with fear, hope, or old patterns. Thatâs not failure, itâs practice. The more you reflect and stay curious, the more familiar your inner voice will become.
Whatâs the difference between intuitive and psychic?
In my work, I use these words interchangeably. Both refer to ways of knowing and perceiving beyond logic or the five senses. Whether you call it intuition or psychic ability, itâs about tuning inâsometimes subtly, sometimes stronglyâto the energy and information around and within you.
How can I protect my energy during psychic work?
Protection starts with intention. You donât need elaborate ritualsâjust clear boundaries and presence. Ground yourself, affirm what youâre available for, and remember you can always say no. Breathwork, visualization, time in nature, and energetic hygiene (like rest and quiet time) are simple and effective ways to stay balanced.
